We had a wonderful stay at La Mirande. It is a beautiful hotel in a great location in Avignon. The hotel is in a very old building, but the rooms are very comfortable and include modern amenities, including fast wifi and a TV ingeniously placed in a period-appropriate mirror. Service across the hotel was amazing. The front desk staff made dinner reservations for us and arranged for a driver to take us to the train station. We had dinner in the Michelin star restaurant one night and it was perhaps the most creative and innovative meal I've ever had with incredible service.
If arriving by train, take the hotel up on its offer to book transfer for you. Our driver was waiting for us at the bottom of the escalator and expertly navigated the complex series of bollards and narrow streets to get us to the hotel.

Chaque année avec une amie on assiste à un cours de cuisine cela dure depuis 7 ans c'est chaque fois un immense plaisir.
Aujourd'hui on était assisté du chef du restaurant le Moutardier un régal avec un chef fort sympathique. A l'an prochain.

Overall, the rooms are a little on the older side (but was never lacking any modern amenities). Appreciated my room with both the shower (separate) from the bathtub. The guerlain amenities were nice.
The service was on target and excellent. No issues and everything was professional and pleasant. The breakfast was an interesting assortment of charcuterie, breads, cereals, yogurts…
As far as the ambiance, it definitely hits the boutique, historical, and… Something je ne sais quoi. I liken it to velvet, but in a nostalgic sort of way. It fits the city well.
The location is perfectly across from the palais du pope, walkable to all of the downtown streets and well within range of an abundance of restaurants.
