South France became like a home to me the last 20 years, but not anymore. why? Frech people drive as they drive here, well not imaginable in many other countries. Don't have to judge this as siwss person. BUT if they in the end damage your car with their insaine driving, don't expect a sorry or even a normal behaviour. NO, what you get is complete and utter rude and insaine behavior and name-calling as pure agression. responsability for their mistake: not existing. on top if you have to call the gendarmerie don't expect lawful behaviour or real support as a stranger. they gang up with their citizens and tell you "we do not handle it this way here" like mafia bosses used to say. in france there are clear property rights and laws, police has to follow. theiy are just not in the mood and play experts in how big a damage is or not. i had to ask this police men if he is an expert with car damages to make my point clear. work, follow the law, helpfulness not their thing. this kind of arrogance is disgusting... last time here for us!
