LE CAFÉ

Wir kamen am Samstag dem Markttag und wollten gerne zu Mittag essen. Ich fragte (auf französisch), ob wir uns an den freien Tisch setzen dürften. Da herrschte man uns an, dass wir gefälligst warten sollten. Wir standen dann im Weg, wurden mehrmals unfreundlich gebeten, mal nach rechts, mal nach links auszuweichen. Bei der Bestellung wollte ich wissen, ob ein Gericht sicher vegetarisch ist und setzte an mit "Wir sind Vegetarierinnen..." worauf die Kellnerin mich anblaffte "Nur so wie auf der Karte..." und davon rauschte... Wir haben dann unsere Flasche Wasser für 10 Euro bezahlt (ok für den Ort für mich) und sind gegangen. Mich dauerhaft für viel Geld anmeckern lassen, brauche ich ehrlich gesagt nicht. Mir tat nur meine 15-jährige Tochter leid, die das Restaurant für uns ausgesucht hatte...

We had high hopes for Le Café in Saint-Tropez, expecting a memorable culinary experience that matched the prestige and charm of its location. Unfortunately, what we received was an overpriced and underwhelming meal that left us feeling both disappointed and taken advantage of.

To begin with, the food was far below what one would expect from a place that carries itself with such apparent sophistication. We ordered the petites sardines, anticipating a fresh, artfully prepared dish. Instead, we were served what was clearly tinned sardines (not mentioned by the menu, we were expecting fried sardines or something of this sort) accompanied by two unfortunate slices of bread and a sad stick of butter. That this meager plate came with a 22€ price tag felt almost like a bad joke.

Our second dish, the Carpaccio de Courgettes, was equally unimpressive, if not more so. There was virtually no food on the plate, with more garnish than substance. Certainly not even half a zucchini, let alone something satisfying. It felt more like an aesthetic exercise than an actual dish meant to be eaten.

As for the service, while the staff were polite, we still felt somewhat overlooked. There was an overall sense of detachment that did nothing to elevate the experience. For a restaurant that charges such premium prices, a basic level of attentiveness should be a given.

In short, Le Café trades on its location and reputation, but offers little in return. The food lacks freshness, creativity, and portion value, and the experience does not justify the exorbitant prices. Saint-Tropez has many wonderful dining options. This is clearly not one of them. We left feeling dissatisfied.

Amazing food. Came for lunch at 12 and it’s completely empty and staff is friendly. The iced lattes, watermelon salad, chicken salad, and truffle ravioli are EXCEPTIONAL. I’m definitely not seeing why this place has 3.5 stars, it’s a 5 star from me.

Sehr schöne Lokation, die zum Essen einlädt!

Wir waren am Markttag Samstagmittag dort, sodass es ziemlich voll und das Personal dadurch etwas überfordert, aber freundlich war.

Man kann - soweit verfügbar - einen Tisch draußen auf der Terrasse oder innen im tollen Ambiente des Restaurants wählen. Beides sehr schön, wobei es innen klimatisiert ist, was von Vorzug an warmen Sommertagen ist.

Besonders haben wir als Aperitif den schmackhaften Aperol Spritz genossen! Zum Essen haben von der Tageskarte Dorade und Burger gewählt, was gut und (für St. Tropez und ein Restaurant dieser Art) günstig war.

Love this cafe! And love the Israeli music. They should play it non-stop; and louder.
