New Yorkers have earned the right to be precious about pizza. And after a week or so in France (Paris first and then the lovely Villefranche sur mer) without a proper slice, my family of four set out in for the perfect pizza. And we found it at Le Serre. Tucked away on a beautiful street, we sat outside. The service was prompt and friendly, the food was delicious (there are many pizza options for vegetarians and meat lovers) with tons of fresh toppings, all cooked perfectly and piping hot. If you're not one for pizza (one of my sons is not) there are plenty of other options. He had a veal dish he absolutely loved.
Also, the prices are very fair. We are used to high food prices in NYC, but some of the (mediocre) places in Villefranche are simply outrageously priced, and not at all worth it.
If you are lucky enough to be in Villefranche, double down on your good fortune and head to La Serre.
P.S. I am almost embarrassed to say that we dined at La Serre three of the five nights we stayed in Villefranche. When you find a gem, stick with it!

Had pizzas that were loaded with toppings but the base was neither deep pan nor Neopolitan - enjoyable nonetheless.
Nothing pretentious here & a great spot for a bite to eat
