HOTEL MERCURE ^{* * * *}

Un hôtel dans un environnement atypique pour un super séjour dans la jolie ville de Poitiers !

Cadre surprenant et accueil parfait.

À l'arrivée chambre à 24 degrés en ce début de juin, impossible de descendre la clim à moins de 22, l'accueil me confirme.
Pas de parking, il faut marcher pour le parking du coin.
La seule fenêtre de ma chambre est dans la salle d'eau, pas de porte entre salle d'eau et espace chambre mais un rideau....
Par contre le site présente clim et parking sans les précisions ci dessus.
Pas très franc du collier tout ça, payer pour une clim juste pour sa présence mais pas son fonctionnement...

Un hôtel agréable, les chambres confortables et suffisamment grandes pour s'y sentir à l'aise, avec (dans mon cas) une petite terrasse privative ! La salle d'eau est grande et bien agencée.
En revanche, étant allergique aux acariens, j'ai malheureusement été beaucoup dérangé lors de mon séjour (je suspecte la moquette au sol..). Hormis ce désagrément, le petit déjeuner était excellent avec un large choix de produits, tous de qualité.
Pour le personnel, très agréable à l'accueil, un peu moins au petit déjeuner qui pourrait être plus souriant, mais c'est un détail !
L'emplacement de l'hôtel est chouette avec un accès au parking souterrain de la ville à seulement 150m! Très pratique et pas cher (1€ par nuit).

We stayed in what the lovely front desk lady described as the nicest room in the hotel. In 2 months of travel through France and many, many hotel rooms, this is the one I was most looking forward to. And in the end, I was most disappointed by. The hotel is in a converted 19th century Jesuit chapel and has beautiful interiors. Our room was built into the nave of the old chapel. And this part was really beautiful. In fact, that is the only reason I am giving 4 stars instead of 3.

The bed was very comfortable and I loved the choice of pillows, especially that there was a range from firm to very soft. There was a large desk and two comfortable armchairs in our very spacious room. However, all the furniture was quite cheap and tacky looking. The carpet was quite old. The open bathroom was very attractive but not practical. There was a really nice tub. However, the shower was above and, since the stylish tub had very high sides, it was difficult stepping in and out. Also, the glass door enclosure wasn’t balanced properly so there was a gap and there was no way to keep the floor from getting soaked with every shower.

Housekeeping was very mediocre and it was particularly annoying that they didn’t replace used cups and glasses.

I wanted to love this room, I expected it to be lush and romantic in keeping with the setting. But instead it felt like a 2-star room in a 5-star building.
