Superbe découverte. Le rapport qualité prix est parfait. On y déguste de bons produits pour une addition très raisonnable. La vue est également un atout pour ce restaurant atypique.

Restaurant très agréable, accueil et service irréprochables, la salle est spacieuse et jolie, et surtout la cuisine est excellente !! On y retournera avec plaisir

I apologise for the time it took to write this review. I was there for dinner on 6th October 23 and while I have raved to people since about the incredible meal I hadn't had time to sit down and do this.
I was a walk in solo diner as where I had planned to eat only did food at lunch and i only had a cursory look at the menu here as being pescatarian and very gluten and a bit dairy intolerant I am most chefs nightmare customer who needs a lot of adapting dishes to suit.
I had a little table in the window which afforded me a terrific view of a gorgeous coloured sky and the entertainment of watching people fishing ( both for fish and dates from what I could see of the interactions going on amongst local people chatting). The river is very pretty and I'm sure lunch would be a leisurely experience watching the water and the birds...but i digress...the food.
A waitress with limited English ( I have even more limited french) attempted to take my dietary requirements and gave up, saying she would get the chef. I figured this would probably end with my finding somewhere else to eat on the road as I had to drive back to the airport that night for an early flight the next day.
Unexpectedly a cheerful chef ( is that even a thing these days with the plethora of swearing self obsessed TV celebrity chefs to chose from?)Came out and asked exactly what I couldn't eat , and unusually, what I actually "liked" to eat.
I was taken aback a bit, but nattered for a few minutes and I said not to bother with a dessert as that's always hard at short notice, but he said it was a challenge and he'd surprise me...did I like pears and a bit of chocolate..not too much for dairy...
I have been surprised at how much france has taken on board alternative milks and products considering the reputation they have for being inflexible in their cuisine.
Well, who doesn't doesn't love chocolate?
I'm not going to describe each course as it was obviously not on the menu and he probably wouldn't appreciate people going in and asking for it en mass. But..this meal was soooooo good. A cold starter with smoked salmon and a sweet puree with beetroot amongst other things.
Main was as, far as I know as I'm not an expert in French fish, something like cod..Pollock.....?? The same fish anyway that I'd had the night before in another restaurant in town which was twice as expensive, overrated in stars and with the chef plastered over the walls like a cheap alternative to artworks. There it was dry, tasteless and unflavoured and I will not be going back. In THIS restaurant it was amazing. I have no idea of all the flavours and nuances in the sauce but I ate as slow as I could to try to see if I could decipher some of them. .The fish was perfectly cooked. It it was heaven on a plate.
But; to be honest it was the dessert which I won't forget. I will see if I have the photo to add still. I personally hate people who photograph their food but this meal was blowing me away by this stage.
A poached pear on a chocolate mousse that tasted like a brownie somehow?, freshly made pear sorbet and a little pot of clear liquor to pour over ( I don't know what it actually was). Sorry for my tastebuds being uneducated in french liquers...i will work on remedying that in the future!????The perfect end to what equaled what was my previous favourite meal ( at 'Atlantic Fish' in Boston, USA.
I have raved about this meal to everyone I talk to about food since I got back to Australia. This restaurant is going to be a favourite haunt of mine in the future as I have business that will necessitate my visiting montmorillon regularly ( lucky me...can't wait for the next visit)
While I selfishly hope this restaurant doesn't get madly busy as i liked its fairly quiet atmosphere and unhurried feel i suppose thats not really evey restraunters aim in business. I will be going back , hopefully many times and hope others read this and also go and enjoy....just not all on the nights I'm there!????
This restaurant is a gem. Lucky you Montmorrillon to have this treasure in your midst.

Tres bon moment en famille dans un cadre tres calme et agreable. Le chef est un passionné et il n'hesite pas a sortir de sa cuisine pour partager ses choix et son envie de bien faire...et il fait tres tres bien. Le seul probleme est de choisir parmis tous ces entrees, plats et dessert ! Un belle table pour un bel endroit.

Dans le cœur historique de Montmorillon, ce restaurant gastronomique se veut à la fois traditionnel et accueillant. On y passe un bon moment avec des plats soignés et goûteux. Le tout à un tarif raisonnable. A ne pas rater que ce soit pour une étape ou pour un repas bien agréable si l’on habite la région.

Il y a des années que je n'y avais pas mangé mais rien à changé toujours aussi bon. Un service très agréable.
Et l'addition est vraiment correcte pour la qualité des assiettes servies.

Cuisine excellente et inventive. Un accueil plus que charmant ! Nous y sommes allés hier soir et y sommes retournés ce midi, c'est dire notre satisfaction. Seul regret : habiter à 250 km ????????

Endroit parfait dans un site agréable. Même si la façade ne paye pas de mine, le restaurant vaut le détour. Jolie vue sur la Gartempe et son vieux pont , Service agréable, repas excellent et bien présenté. Rapport qualité/prix sans comparaison. Pour exemple, la bouteille d'eau pétillante ne coûte que 3€ (du jamais vu dans un restaurant).

Je crois y être allé 5 fois. J'ai suis toujours surpris par le rapport qualité-prix exceptionnel. Jamais de mauvaise surprise: un très beau cadre, une carte assez complète, une cuisine d'un standing inattendu, un chef très sympa qui sort de la cuisine partager sa passion sans hésiter avec les clients.

Des plats classiques mais delicieux. Des salles rustiques et chaleureuses offrent une magnifique vue sur la rivière. Un excellent rapport qualité/prix. À découvrir.

Pas de grande surprise côté carte mais cette table réputée localement fait honneur à la tradition culinaire française et aux produits locaux. Au menu : foie gras en brioche et sa sauce foie gras, filet de poisson, sauté de veau aux cèpes, langoustines, etc . Grande maîtrise des sauces dans la plus pure tradition française (adepte de cuisine moderne et légère passez votre chemin). Plats excellents qui mériteraient tout de même quelques revisites pour y mettre un peu d'originalité et de fraîcheur afin d'attirer une cliente plus jeune ! Le cadre reste très classique ainsi que le servir, un peu guindé.

Nous ne connaissions pas. Mais quelle belle surprise. Nous y retournerons même si ce n'est pas tout près de chez nous. La "brioche avec œuf mollet sauce foie gras " est un ravissement pour les papilles. La maîtresse des lieux est un peu autoritaire, mais c'est si bon qu'on supporte! Je recommande vivement. Se régaler dans se ruiner, c'est rarissime! Bravo à toute l'équipe .

Cuisine fine et bonne. Très bon rapport qualité prix. Le menu à 17,50€ est à défier toute concurrence. Même dans une pizzeria on mange pour plus cher et ce n’est pas aussi bon.

restaurant dans un cadre agréable et reposant, cuisine traditionnelle exelente avec beaucoup de finesse et tres agreable,acceil tres convivialle , chose tres apreciable , le chef vient rendre visite a ces convives ce qui cree une ambiance et atmosphere chaleureuse et rarisime dans les restaurants de nos jours;les prix sont tres abordable pour une cuisine pleine de saveurs , je vous le recommande pleinement. bravo au chef " franck et nath sa femme"..
