Unfortunately, our experience at Château de Saint-Loup sur Thouet did not meet our expectations. While the château may appeal to guests seeking a historic and immersive atmosphere, it was not suitable for my family. The rooms had a strong musty smell that aggravated my asthma, and my daughters felt emotionally distressed, resulting in anxiety and crying.
We decided to leave and find alternative accommodations the same day, but were still charged for both rooms, despite not staying. No clear mention was made during the booking about pre-payment or retention policies, which felt unfair.
The staff may be welcoming, and the location holds historic charm—but I cannot recommend it for families with sensitivities or health concerns. A more flexible and transparent policy would improve the experience for guests facing similar situations.

Beautiful village
La chambre était immense et à couper le souffle !
Le donjon est top et le domaine avec l’orangerie, le pigeonnier etc était génial pour se balader avec notre chien.
Le petit déjeuner est copieux et très bons avec du jus de pommes du château.
Les propriétaires sont adorables, merci encore pour tout ! On reviendra sans hésiter !
