LE DOMAINE D'ESPERBASQUE

We booked a one-week stay in one of three mini-houses in a converted farmhouse. When we arrived with my husband and three children, we were struck by the awful smell of a place that hadn't been aired in ages. After putting our bags down on the dusty floor, we took a quick look around. We were surprised (or rather horrified) to discover that the sofa was mouldy and that the mould had been ‘hidden’ under four layers of thick blankets, which were also mouldy and dirty and gave off a foul smell. Our surprises were not over yet, as there were dangerous pieces of glass behind the bed in the master bedroom, which was dangerous for our young children. Spiders in every corner of the tiny house were also part of our stay, which we cut short after our first night at the Esperbasque estate. The bathroom was completely unusable, with nowhere to put our belongings, not to mention a small spider that gave us a warm welcome under the toilet lid. Having decided to make pasta for dinner, we found that the colander was just like the mini-house: completely mouldy ! When we went to see Marianne to ask her for a new one, she replied that we could easily use one of her (dirty) lids to drain our pasta. We were stunned. The mini-house had no cleaning equipment whatsoever. After a most picturesque night, we fled first thing in the morning and literally had to fight to get what we were owed. I only recommend this campsite to the most adventurous, and asthmatics beware, as the mould, dust and dust mites will get the better of you !

Nous n'avons passé qu'une nuit dans ce camping, mais l'accueil était chaleureux et le lieu est très agréable
