CHÂTEAU DE LAURESSE

I just spent a week staying at a number of Relais et Chateux in Normandy and Brittany but Chateau de Lauresse made the greatest impression that will always stay with me. The owner Pierre spent the last 3 years restoring this chateau to it's original roots. Each room is unique and the library has a rare collection of books on Napoleonic history. The original stone floor is gorgeous and there's a small carousel in the front hall. There is a feel of authenticity throughout. You can easily pass time here with a beautiful heated pool, sauna and work out room. At times I felt like I was in on the set of an Agatha Christie movie set in France. Beautiful gardens and forest surround the home with horses grazing and friendly dogs and cats coming and going. The coup de gras is that Pierre is an accomplished chef and served an amazing dinner starting with a homemade terrine, thenfresh fish with herbs from his garden and the most gorgeous assortments of cheeses. Breakfast had a platter with over 12 homemade jams all from is fruit trees. If you are in a hurry and expect tip top service every moment this is not the place for you. Instead just settle into the pace of the countryside, relax and soak up the history and ambience and imagine the famlies who lived here over hundreds of years.

Elegant, cultured, tranquil, beautiful - Monsieur is a very good man and a magnificent host we would love to return whenever we have a chance to do so which we hope to do as soon as possible when we next drive through France in our way to Corfu - benedictions!

Ce n’est pas un château cela ressemble plus à lieu de mafieux ne paye pas les artisans qui travaille pourtant satisfait du travaille à fuir !

Cuisine raffinée travaillant des produits locaux circuits courts en direct des producteurs. La viande est maturée par les propriétaires. Très belle cave a fromages.

Endroit féerique ! Les propriétaires vous accueillent dans leur belle propriété entourée d’arbres, et d’animaux. Nous y avons passé plusieurs week-ends et à chaque fois nous avons eu de belles surprises tant au niveau culinaire et aux espaces bien-être, sauna, hamman, et la très grande piscine. Hate d’y revenir !
