Overall the hotel was ok. Our room was clean and comfortable, all amenities you need for a pleasant stay. The staff were friendly and helpful when checking-in. The outdoor pool was also clean. However, the hotel in general was showing signs of needing maintenance and refreshing (e.g. rust and peeling paint). Definitely not worthy of 5 stars. Unfortunately we had a very disappointing experience at the spa and would definitely not recommend. My partner is not the type to complain but he said his massage was terrible. The spa therapist had poor technique (my partner described it as being similar to someone slapping on suncream) and they ran out of massage oil causing friction and discomfort. Very disappointing and unacceptable given the treatment cost of €135 (50 minutes). We pre-paid for our treatments online before our stay and tried to give feedback when checking-out of the hotel, however the receptionist said it was her first day and did not know how to handle the complaint. The general spa facilities (indoor pool, hammam and sauna) were average at best - I expected much better based off the hotel’s website. I would say the spa facilities were similar to that of a public leisure centre. At nearly £300 per night, I generally think the hotel is overpriced.

Terrible experience. the building is so outdated, the spa is even worse. it is unpleasant how dirty and not maintained at all. the rooms carry dust all over the place, coffee machines are dirty and broken. the staff speaks no English at all. if you ask for a coffee you might end up with a coffee machine being brought you. the food is pretty bad too. room service menu is ghastly.

Completely decrepit hotel from the 70s. Only thing that can help this place is a teardown and rebuild. Prices are exorbitant given how run down the facility is. Too bad for the beautiful setting.

We had intended to stay at Sofitel for a week but given some negative recent reviews we only booked 1 night to check it out before we committed for longer stay and very glad we didn’t book non-refundable 1 week. We left immediately after breakfast after the first night, predominantly given value for money so low.
Key negative with the hotel is its portrayed as a 5 star hotel but is far from it. As per earlier comments, hotel is sooo weared out and looks like its hasn’t been maintained in +20years. We also made it clear we wanted to not be on ground floor because of baby but got allocated to a room with ground access after having been told we’d be staying at the «fifth floor». Food okay, but not more.
Location is good, beds were great. Front desk did a okay job to remedy the ground floor situation.
We stayed 4 nights at Palais before coming to Sofitel and ended up going direclty back to Palais. Do yourself a favor and invest the incremental $€ for Palais instead which is one of the nicest hotels we ever stayed in.

Personnel très sérieux. Les chambres étaient impeccables et le service de parking très compétent. Piscine à 26 degrés et accès direct à la plage. Je conseille fortement.

Excellent établissement, les équipes sont professionnelles en accord avec la marque Sofitel, à l'écoute et rapides. La restauration est de très bonne qualité, tant pour le petit déjeuner que le reste des repas. Je recommande fortement ce lieu de séjour.

The location is great and the staff and food was excellent. But the property itself is falling apart. Signs of water damage, rust and mould all over the place. The lower levels are like a James Bond lair with random corridors and rooms that go nowhere and signage confusing.

Hotel degradado, sujo, quartos num estado deplorável, além de tudo muito antigo, estava estragado como se vê nas fotos. Os valores pagos são inexplicáveis para aquilo que se encontra no local! As varandas dos quartos não sao dignas de se apresentar em lado nenhum, muito menos num hotel onde tudo é muito caro. Tv muito pequena, que nem dava, tiveram de lá ir na primeira noite. Seguramente o pior sítio onde alguma vez fiquei.

Hotel très bien situé en bordure d'océan avec une très belle vue sur Biarritz. Service de qualité. En revanche, l'hôtel est un peu daté et mériterait une rénovation.

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE. A wonderful location and friendly staff, but the building is ridiculously outdated and looks like it hasn’t had any upkeep since the 90s. There is a nice outdoor swimming pool, but the indoor facilities are small, randomly dispersed and not well maintained, even with bits of walls falling down (see photo). Worst of all they upsold us a “room with sea view” when it seems like all rooms actually have a sea view, and then the terrace doors are so old they aren’t double glazed and don’t close properly either, so the sound of the roaring ocean will keep you awake at night. We booked two nights but left after the first night as it was so unpleasant.

Great location. Decent rooms and nice pool after beach days. The outside of the building is a bit tired but apart from that a good experience. Nice and friendly staff.

L'hôtel mériterait un vrai rafraichissement (mobilier, façades). Le petit déjeuner est servi par des stagiaires un peu perdus au niveau du service.. le bar de l'hôtel est non vivant.
La piscine est très bien située avec une vue parfaite. L'accueil était sympathique.

Nous avons profité du Spa qui est juste extraordinaire. Le personnel est aux petits soins et la carte des soins est très bien.
Les soins sont top ! Un vrai moment de relaxation, bien être et pur bonheur!

Si les chambres et la localisation de l’hôtel sont conformes aux attentes |, les extérieurs de l’hôtel laissent à désirer avec des structures rouillées depuis au moins 4 ans, des toiles d’araignée sur les extérieurs… des portes en contre plaqué à l’espace thalassso non remplacées depuis 2 ans, l’Absence de kiné pendant 1 semaine dans l’espace thalassothérapie en juillet… ce n’est plus à la hauteur des lieux.

Cadre très bien à proximité de la plage mais l’état du bâtiment mériterait un rafraîchissement: , faux plafond des terrasses rouillé, murs de la terrasse du petit dej aussi. Et toiles d’araignées sur l’enseigne de l’entrée. Les chambre sont top. Mais les extérieurs mériteraient. Un rafraîchissement.

ce que j’aime c’est les petits attentions,comme avoir mon lit prêt le soir avec un petit chocolat et une infusion , ce que j’apprécie c’est l’accueil chaleureux du personnel,notamment de la réception et du concierge qui m’accompagne jusqu’à ma chambre

Ausgesprochen herzlicher Empfang und ein rundum schöner Aufenthalt durch das aufmerksame, freundliche Personal. Wir sind mit Hund unterwegs und sie war überall willkommen. Das neue Spielzeug liebt sie, das vom Hotel im Zimmer bereit lag. Service at its best!

Spa pas top le massage pas à niveau il ya une dame avec une coupe caré noir et des lunettes à l'accueil de spa pas sympa alors des tout par contre la nouvelles grandes mère ???????? très mignon gentil merci beaucoup à la dame qui s'occupe des serviettes au spa très gentil .
