Vraie auberge familiale (troisième générations minimum) avec cuisine Maison et accueil souriant et agréable. Vaut réellement le détour

We had a wonderful evening meal at Auberge de Fougaron. The setting is really lovely, with tables set up outside on a covered deck area with atmospheric lighting and views over the garden and through the trees at the mountains.
We booked through Facebook messenger the previous day.
The waitress was excellent and was very efficiently serving a number of tables.
We had the fixed menu which was really good. Started with a deliciously dressed salad with melon and cured meat. The main course was roasted pork or roasted duck breast with chips in a gravy. Then there was a cheese course for those that wanted it - also delicious! And finally a choice of ice cream or a fruit flavoured cake - we didn’t manage to work out what fruit it was given our poor French!
The white wine was excellent. The pizzas other tables enjoyed also looked really good.
As it got dark the waitress switched on some lights and we enjoyed watching the bats fly around the old tree in the garden. We didn’t get any gnat bites which I was a bit concerned might be a problem when we arrived - no gnats were seen!
The price was incredibly reasonable at €230 for 9 of us and given the quality of the food and the setting.
It was our last night in the area so we couldn’t visit again else we would have been. Please do go and try it out!
