This stunning chateau is situated close to Avignon nestled in the small village of Sauveterre. Its breathtaking facade greets you on arrival, a taste of things to come. Varenne's hosts make you welcome and are on hand with advice or simply good cheer as is their beautiful dog Woody. Our superior french decorated room had a stunning view from the 2nd floor, it was spacious, bed very comfortable, clean and with Occitane amenities and bottled water. The breakfast had everything you could wish for and was generous. Tea and coffee were free all day and a self service honour system bar at your disposal in the sumptuous grand salon. The pool was sublime, the grounds immaculate, quiet and contemplative. Don't delay, book today, every guest we spoke to said the same, Chateau de Varenne is divine in everyway. You can also drive to Arles, St Remy de Provence, Orange, Uzes, Nimes, Chateauneuf and numerous other Provencal towns or just hit the local Saturday brocante or restaurants in Villeneuve. Loved our six days there in June.

Incredibly beautiful and tranquil property. Elegant without feeling too formal. Emma and Paul are incredible hosts who can recommend activities nearby and book reservations for you. A true gem.

Emma and Paul are wonderful hosts! The Chateau is absolutely charming and the grounds beautiful. We really enjoyed the delicious breakfast each morning. Would highly recommend! And if you go, say hello to Woody the Chateau mascot. Bon voyage!

There is something romantic for us Americans to want to stay in a Chateau while traveling through Europe but rarely does that experience match up to expectations- well, at Chateau de Varenne - we got all what we wanted and more!||Let’s start with the service itself - from the moment we walked it we felt special. Emma, our host, knew about our allergens and had already made sure we were going to be taken care of - be it breakfast or snacks. And also willing to call local restaurant to make sure they accommodated us. Also we truly appreciated that they were able to arrange taxis as we needed them to get to our dinners. You truly feel like you are staying in someone’s home (because you are) - and that is just a great feeling.||The facilities are outstanding. Our room was nice and clean - and comfortable. The patio/terrace is wonderful to enjoy breakfast or a glass of wine! The library serves as yet another place to just chill out with a pre-dinner drink or just to read a book. The pool is very nice - great way to spend an afternoon after wine tasting nearby!||Finally - let’s not forget Woody - the resident dog. There is something special about having a cute pet - as it is just another way to make you feel you are home!||Thank you Emma and family for taking care of us!
