L'abbazia di Royaumont è una ex abbazia cistercense, ubicata vicino a Asnières-sur-Oise in Val-d'Oise, a circa 30 km a nord di Parigi; venne distrutta nel 1791, durante la rivoluzione francese, per costruire una fabbrica; rimane la sagrestia, il chiostro e il refettorio.Venne costruita tra il 1228 e il 1235 con il sostegno finanziario di Luigi IX. Questa abbazia fu la destinazione prediletta del re e della madre Bianca di Castiglia per i loro ritiri spirituali. La Fondazione Royaumont pour le progrès des Sciences de l’Homme tutela oggi il patrimonio artistico dell'Abbazia contribuendo soprattutto al restauro del chiostro e del refettorio, uno dei pochi rimasti in Francia nello stile gotico di origine.

We have seen many abbeys around France, so finding this one had good reviews made it an easy decision to visit.
My guess, however, is that those reviews are maybe for the hotel rather than for the abbey as a visitor attraction.
The entrance is very expensive for what you get. Only a handful of rooms are open, and the only one that will last in the memory is the monks dining room. The rest are just empty spaces with no real character or interest.
The proposed route begins with a cave filled with old light bulbs, with no explanation why this might be of interest. Then you go past various kitchen gardens, which are mostly abandoned to weeds.
On reaching the building you ever the cloister (no access to the garden) and the few open rooms are all accessed from there. You could do the whole thing in 10 minutes.

Le café restaurant est très sympa, agréable, bien situé. La librairie à l'entrée très bien fournie.
Un gros bémol sur la visité guidée.. La conférencière à fait le job mais sans plus.
