HÔTEL GALILEO ^{* * *}

Everyone was very pleasant and friendly. They understood our struggling French. We would have like to have been able to take a to go box to the airport with a breakfast pastry and fruit in it, but it was hard to communicate that to the man at reception desk. He said it did not open until 6:30 and our ride to the CDG was at 6:20 am. The safe also did not work for us. The receptionist tried to correct it, but could not. I believe it was you that also tried to repair it, but we placed our passports in our luggage and locked it up. No worries. ||

Location, location, location. This hotel is a block from the Champs Elysees and the Arc de Triomphe, an easy 20 minute walk to the Eiffel Tower and the Bateaux Mouches river cruise, and a 10 minute walk from a great dinner spot- Sens Unique. We loved that after a day of whatever our activity was (Versailles/ Louvre/ Galeries Lafayette Haussman) that may be a train or cab ride away, we could come back to the hotel and decide who wanted to wander through shops or get a coffee on the way back. Being able to walk to dinner each night was so easy.||The front desk staff could not have been nicer. They offered umbrellas on the rainy days, held our luggage in the morning, offered infused water in the afternoons, etc. Very kind and professional and welcoming.||We booked rooms 404 and 405, which were essentially two rooms connected by a tiny hall that we could turn into a suite- there was an outer door that locked. This configuration was PERFECT for our family, so that as we were getting ready in the mornings or for dinner, we had two bathrooms. It also meant at night that we could keep our bedroom doors propped open in case the girls needed us, but still have privacy. ||The rooms are small if you aren't used to city accommodations (not any smaller than NYC or Boston rooms that are in premium locations). They had hairdryers, magnifying mirrors, cute little vanity stations that popped up in the desks in each room, a mini fridge, safe, etc. All the amenities you would expect.||We were amazed at how QUIET the rooms were- we are used to city noise and definitely the hubbub of hotels (doors slamming, kids running down the hall, etc.) and had NONE of that. our rooms looked out into a courtyard that had balconies from what appeared to be an apartment building looking out into the same courtyard, so I imagine that might get noisy if the residents were loudly entertaining outside, but that never happened. The curtains were sufficient for light-blocking. ||The beds were to our liking- very firm and the pillows were perfect. ||We put the "please clean our room" on the doors each morning when we left for the day, and always found the rooms clean and tidy when we returned.||If we came back to Paris, we all agreed that we would want to stay in the same place again!
