Watch out for your change!
I had not been to the Café de la Mairie for years, mostly because staff was so unpleasant, even more than the (arguably high mark of) Paris average. This morning I tried the place again. Unpleasantness is still queen. But one big innovation: my waiter tried to give me change on a €10 note whereas I had given him €20, and the banknote was on his tray he could not miss it. He gave me the missing ten but did not even apologise.
