We went there yesterday for an early dinner (ordered boef bourginion and a duck) and spent the whole night with food poisoning (puking and stomach problems). I had never experienced something like this.

We were too tired to make a complaint in person, so the review has to suffice. Never going there again.

A Sunday morning mooch around the area where my hotel is and I came across the Cafe Saint-Placide. From the outside it looks like many other cafes you would find in Paris and the inside decor also looks pretty similar. But what makes this place stand out is the warm welcome from staff and great atmosphere you feel as soon as you step foot inside.
The menu (available in both French and English) is simple and unfussy. Ordering is very easy and there is no waiting. I ordered the Supreme petit dejeuner and wasn't disappointed with any of the food that came out. There was so much of it as well - it filled my table!
The staff are great - attentive but not to the point that they hound you and very friendly. The place is a mix for local Parisians as well as tourists. From the older generation reading their newspaper and having coffee to the younger families with their children enjoying a great breakfast.
Overall I'd definitely recommend this cafe to anyone in the area - whether it is just for a coffee or for food.
