Amazing vibe ???? Wish there was more seating by the band, but we appreciated the tv showing them by the bar. Drinks are amazing, will most definitely be coming back. Make sure to get here early for better seats!!

We love jazz but had never been to a club in France. Reading mixed reviews of some clubs in Paris that have apparently become tourist traps, we looked for authentic. 38Riv met and exceeded our expectations. A super cool space in a vaulted medieval cellar, the acoustics are great, and with the small intimate space, you are literally sharing the experience with the musicians. We saw a quartet one night and when the pianist, Dexter Goldberg, was so outstanding, we returned a couple nights later to watch him play in his own trio. The staff is friendly, and the warm-up, front man is so fun. If you are looking for the real deal, you will not go wrong with this joint.

Le 38Riv c’est LE spot jazz qui fait vibrer Paris ! Foncez y ! Ce petit club planqué dans une cave du Marais est une vraie pépite. Ambiance cosy, lumières tamisées, acoustique de fou… et surtout : du bon, du très bon jazz.

Des artistes ultra talentueux, une prog variée : on y va une fois, on y retourne direct. En bonus : un petit bar sur place pour siroter un verre pendant le concert. L’endroit est intime, alors mieux vaut réserver ou arriver tôt pour choper une bonne place !.

We were searching for a Jazz club similar to Small’s in NYC and this perfectly fit the bill. You get your own drinks at the bar which is actually pretty nice instead of waiting for a server, and getting up to fetch it gives you a different view of the action. If you don’t like your initial seat just wait a second for the people up front to leave.

Mixed experience. Very nice customer service at booking, convenient location, charming cave for jazz. We loved the concert we came to see …but, immediately following the show we went to grab a drink to end the night (there is a bar in the back). The bartender told us a jam session was starting in ten minutes so we had to buy additional 6eur tickets each to stay (already had paid 20+ each for the previous concert). I thought this was a bit strange, but we said ok, we would stay a half hour longer to finish our drinks and listen.

In reality, the “jam session” didn’t start for more than one hour later. Frankly, I felt cheated. We absolutely could have enjoyed our post concert drink calmly in the bar and left without being forced to buy tickets for a concert we didn’t intend to go to and did not stay for in the first place?

A wonderful concert (guitar and cello). Jazz of a unique type, the guitarist sang, often hitting the mood of a flamenco singer. The venue is downstairs in a small stove arch ceiling'd room. Will come again next time I'm in Paris for sure!

Wonderfully intimate underground venue absolutely perfect for jazz. Saw the Ari Hoenig trio, an outstandingly accomplished group with every player a virtuoso. Great night out in a very cool location.

Très bonne adresse découverte récemment.
Les musiciens sont bons et l'ambiance chaleureuse. Le service est exceptionnellement bon (ce qui est rare dans ce genre de clubs). Les cocktails sont excellents et les assiettes mixtes sont très généreuses. Essayez le Jamaican Mule, un régal!!
