No hotel is cheap in Paris but Castex Hotel was reasonably priced and is located in an extremely good position. It's right next to Bastille Metro, just 1 stop from Gare de Lyon and BVD Henri IV runs directly thru to Ile St Louis, an easy 15 minutes stroll. The concierge was extremely helpful and very friendly and the breakfast was both extensive and delicious. I'd stay there again tomorrow!

We absolutely loved Hotel Castex. It's close to 2 different metro stops and at least 1 bus stop for easy getting around. There are a bunch of food places close by as well. The staff was wonderful and very friendly. The room was neat and had a lot of character.

I stayed at this hotel recently and was pleasantly surprised by the young man at the night reception. Very professional, helpful, and genuinely kind, he made my arrival and stay much more enjoyable. He was quick to respond to my requests with a smile and provided useful information. You can tell he takes his job seriously, and that makes all the difference. If you happen to meet him, you can be sure your experience will be much more pleasant. A real asset to this hotel!

I would not recommend staying here. The room was so tiny I had to walk sideways to get to the other side of the bed. There were black scrape marks on the wall where people had dragged their luggage to get past the bed. The bathroom was ancient and the shower head was coming out. The amenities were spartan. The complementary breakfast was regrettable. After viewing it we ate elsewhere. The air conditioning was not cool enough for the August heat. The location was very good.|Rick Steves was way off on this one.
