Our experience of le Grand Véfour was sadly not as expected. We were rushed to order and they were obviously annoyed that I accidentally ordered the wrong wine (I caught it before they even opened it, so there was no waste to speak of).
When one of the waitresses came to pour water, her attitude was less than desirable, as she slammed the bottle on the table and walked away without another word.
I felt uncomfortable and a little stressed, although the rest of the staff was very kind.
After dinner they forgot to give us one of our shopping bags with a wedding dress. When we found out when we got to our bnb we had to travel all the way back, which in total cost us 1.5 hours. They also initially forgot to give me my backpack which I had to ask for.
If someone takes our coats and bags I do expect them to know what is ours.

Historical room was beautiful. Loved the beauty and history of it. Food was very good especially the sea urchin special. Picturesque and flavorful. Caviar starter was also good but very basic presentation. Lobster was delicious. But, no amuse bouche and 5 star service also not consistently present. For the prices, service, while still good, should have been better (pouring your water should be done when glass is empty, etc.). All in all, I’m glad we came but, with the other restaurants available in this price range, would not likely return.
