LA ROTONDE SAINT-HONORÉ

For our first night in France, we left the day open to explore around our hotel. We decided on this spot for dinner, as it was near our hotel and had 2 of my must have dishes on the menu. Interestingly enough, they have crickets on the menu. We didn't try them because our son actually ordered some for us at home a couple of years ago so there was no mystery for us in that dish. We were warmly welcomed and the service was great. Our server was not timid about helping my husband decide between two dishes and we really appreciate that! We opened with an espresso and a French Martini. My husband didn't realize he was getting a tiny little espresso when he ordered a decaf coffee, so we had a good laugh at a lesson learned. I wish we could say we learned our lesson, but he made the same mistake a couple of times before he learned to order it in a large cup. LOL

The martini was not at all as I expected. It was very different from the states but I figure they know what they are doing with the drink. I quite enjoyed it once I realized it was not what I thought it would be. We started our trip with what became a nightly ritual - burgundy snails. We LOVE escargot and have never had these with the green sauce on them. It was fun to finagle them out of the shells but we did discover that snails are fairly small when served in France. Although small, they pack a great flavorful punch.

My husband ordered the Poke Drakar salad and he said it was delicious. He loved the way the salmon was prepared and the edamame gave it a nice freshness. I couldn't wait to try a Croq Monsieur so that's what I ordered. I really liked it! It was cooked perfectly and had a ham and cheese ratio for the filling. The side salad was absolutely delicious! It was a great surprise and of course the fries were wonderful. I'm not a mayo fan, but the little crock of mayo looked rich and creamy - I didn't try it.

Although this was our only visit to this establishment, it was a perfect introduction to casual French dining and the staff made us feel so comfortable as we practiced our very limited French phrases.

We had a lovely lunch here. Someone was eating "Assiette Paname" and it looked so good that we ordered it too, along with Gravax Maison de Saumon. Everything was delicious. We especially loved the omelette and the dressing on the salad (a peppery vinaigrette w hint of mustard). The staff were kind and attentive. Highly recommend!

I visited this lovely restaurant in Paris with my mom, and it was a truly memorable experience. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. The cozy atmosphere made us feel at home and captured the charm of Paris. A big thank to our waiter—so kind, attentive, and patient. He made us feel genuinely welcome. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a great meal with wonderful service!

We stopped in for lunch and had a great time. The service was excellent! We ordered two steak meals, onion soup, burratta, croque monsieur and croque madame. The onion soup was superb. The steaks and two sandwiches were okay. It came to $203 for 4 of us including wine but no dessert.
