Ich möchte meine aufrichtige Begeisterung für meine positive Erfahrung mit der Pass-Stelle teilen. Der Service, den ich erhalten habe, war absolut herausragend. Das Personal war äußerst hilfsbereit, zuvorkommend und entgegenkommend. Ich fühlte mich von Anfang bis Ende bestens betreut. Diese Erfahrung hat meine Erwartungen übertroffen, und ich bin wirklich beeindruckt von dem hohen Maß an Kundenservice, das geboten wurde. Vielen Dank für eine herausragende Erfahrung!

I'm German, my spouse is Russian, we currently live in France. We called them, we clearly explained our situation, and we asked them what to do if we wanted to move to Germany. The person on the phone told us that my spouse would need an entry visa to move to Germany, could generally only stay in Germany for up to 90 days without a residence permit and would have to know German at A1 level ahead of our arrival and possibly even have to apply for a work permit. They misinformed us. After doing some more research and confirming it with the BAMF (federal migration office) in Berlin, we have now been informed that my spouse would definitely not need to apply for a work permit (which sounded strange to us anyways, as there's a human right to family unity) and that given the fact I have made use of my right of free movement within the EU as an EU citizen, not German national law but European law applies to our case. This means that we can simply move from France to Germany without any entry visa for my spouse and apply for her residence permit when we are in Germany. As soon as the application is filed, she will have the right to reside in Germany until a decision has been taken, also beyond three months if this is the time it takes. Furthermore, the person on the phone inappropriately stressed that I would be allowed to move to Germany without any conditions, just not my spouse. If they think they have to inform German nationals that they have the right to move to Germany individually, how stupid do they think I am? Also, it's quite insensitive to talk as if I would move anywhere without my spouse. It sounded like our marriage was disregarded by German authorities. If you don't know better, just don't give any information. We were deeply worried for multiple days. As a German, I am deeply disappointed and upset regarding the "service" of this embassy. I hope that the embassy will take internal measures to tackle this serious issue. In a liberal democracy, public authorities should be of service to the people and competently help them in exercising their rights and not cause any troubles or demonstrate that they disregard the people's personal life arrangements.
