HÔTEL KYRIAD CANAL SAINT-MARTIN

Wie jedes Pariser Hotel ist auch das Kyriad ein Fall für die Borger. Das schnuckelige kleine Stadthotel, gelegen zwischen Montmartre und Marais, bietet in den circa 30 Zimmern eine kuschelige Wohlfühlatmosphäre – sofern man nicht unter Agoraphobie leidet. Da das aber bei allen Hotels dieser Preiskategorie der Fall ist, ist es nicht unbedingt ein Manko. Die Zimmer bieten auf circa 15 Quadratmetern alles, was das Herz begehrt, außer einem Kühlschrank. Sogar ein kleiner Heizkörper und ein Gepäckständer finden sich im Schrank. Wo man den Kofferbock im Raum platzieren soll, ist allerdings die Frage. Ebenso groß geraten ist das Badezimmer. Dieses bietet durch die violette Bekachelung einen angenehmen Kontrast zum Hauptraum, dessen Tapisserie in einem floralen Muster gehalten ist. Ein besonderes Highlight ist der Oldschool-Wandfön, den man in dieser Form nicht mehr so oft zu Gesicht bekommt und der 90er-Vibes auf dem nassen Kopf auslöst. Für die Gänge hätte man sich eine Ampelregelung überlegen können. Wenn sich hier zwei Käsetiger treffen, muss einer den Retourgang einlegen. Besonders das Foyer des Hauses erstrahlt in neuem Glanz, ebenso wie der kleine Frühstücksraum direkt neben der Rezeption. Auch die retirierte Lage der Hotellerie samt des patioartigen Zugangs ist ein gern gesehenes Alleinstellungsmerkmal. An der Lage gibt es nichts zu meckern. Nur wenige Gehminuten vom Gare du Nord entfernt kann jeder von Charles de Gaulle Kommende die Herberge im Handumdrehen erreichen. Zusätzlich bietet eine Metrostation, nur fünf Minuten die Straße hinunter, Zugang, um Paris unsicher zu machen. Nur einen Katzensprung entfernt befinden sich ein Intermarché, Monop’ und ein Carrefour Express, um Proviant für die täglichen Streifzüge zu holen. Die besondere Nähe zum Canal Saint-Martin und die damit verbundenen Amüsiermöglichkeiten sind hervorzuheben. Und auch wenn man zu viel Vin Rouge getankt hat, hilft einem das freundliche Personal 24/7 weiter. Das ist sehr angenehm, da man so zu später Stunde nicht mehr über das Souterrain per Karte und Code ins Hotel schleichen muss, sondern immer einen Mitarbeiter mit einem freundlichen „Bonsoir“ auf den Lippen vorfindet.

you get what you pay for. paper thin walls, barely any floor room to walk on, dirty bathroom towels, and a neighbor that was getting RAILED all night.

2 nights of very disturbed sleep. Would not recommend. Photos look hipster/cool but it's just surface level decoration, the actual hotel is very tired and old. My room was directly adjacent to the old elevator/lift and that was *incredibly* loud, anytime it was used by anyone in the building (which is obviously a lot). So late nights and super early mornings it would wake me up - even with ear plugs. I was also next to very loud water pipes. Seemed to be no soundproofing in the rooms. I also had a very hard uncomfortable mattress.
We booked X3 rooms for a friends trip with the intention of it just being a place to sleep at the end of exploring, so after two restless nights, I can't say I would recommend anyone to book here.
When I raised this feedback on checkout I was met with a response of 'well your room was next to the elevator' and a shrug when I said the mattress was also very uncomfortable. I was shocked by this poor customer service. Don't sell a room to someone if they can't actually sleep in it.
My room was also incredibly small but that is very typical of Paris. My two friends had much bigger rooms (my door literally wouldn't open fully, as it touched the bed) but we were all on the same room rate which seemed bizarre. When I asked reception about this aswell, he said 'the rooms are all the same size' which is factually inaccurate and it is clear that some rooms are better than others... Which one would assume would be reflected in the price.
We would have been better off staying in a hotel chain of equal pricing to ensure basic standards were met, as we really did just want somewhere to sleep.
It's unfortunate as the location is good for seeing Paris and some of the staff are very friendly as other reviews mention.

The hotel is within walking distance from Gare du Nord and Gare de l’Est. It is in a quiet area. The hotel however is a little old but is still somewhat clean. The shower head was blocked. Although it’s still working, it was a little annoying. The staffs are very nice and helpful. The stay was not too bad.
