The playing area was in great condition in early June when I visited. Yes there are some short par 5 holes, so playing of the most rear or second most is probably best for mud to low handicap golfers. We played off the 55 tees and it was a fraction short in reality. However I just loved the look and feel of the place.
The pro shop and changing facilities are decent. The friendliness of the staff was fantastic.
