Nice location village. Too many people for visiting the house from inside. Better to have some drinks and food in the neighbourhood small bistros or restaurants.

Ist ein schöner Ort. Leider total überfüllt. Ich frage mich warum man Timeslots buchen kann und dann werden doch alle nonstop eingelassen.

Visite intéressante, le jardin est magnifique, bien entretenu. Le seul hic est la surpopulation !

Dreadful experience
A dreadful experience. Very very unpleasant.

Vastly overcrowded. Hordes of people. Very long queues to go into house (90 - 120 minutes).
Gardens no longer well maintained.

Several years ago we enjoyed a visit to the gardens. This time it was awful.
We went early (09:45) to avoid the worst of the crowd, but there were still 20 minute queues to get in with pre paid tickets.
Inside it was a seething mass of people trying to get around. Most people were trying hard to be heplful to other visitors,
You were being forced along narrow paths, little opportiunity to stop and take composed photos.
Visiting the house was even worse. Long queues to get in, then just shuffling along thoughout the house.

The only decent area was (of course) the shop with expensive tat. Even then the paying queue went along three walls of a large room.

Overall, I would recommend NOT to visit Monet's Garden in Giverney

This trip is a bit hard work. Problem one is the scrum for the shuttle bus from Vernon to Giverny and then you have to find your way to the gardens themselves. (If you've booked in advance you need to follow the group entry signs). The gardens are very nice though hardly earth-shattering, and it doesn't help that the waterlilly pond is separated from the main garden by a busy road and connected by an underpass. You then have to join a long queue and shuffle along (mostly in the shade) into and then through the house. The house itself is quite interesting, filled with rather poor reproductions of Monet and other Impressionists' works. The overall experience is one of slow shuffling along paths and corridors with frequent stops while people photograph each other. Then it's back to the car park to fight your way onto the bus and then another scramble to get a seat on the train back to Paris. Advice given elsewhere is to get there as early as possible - skip your hotel breakfast and grab something at Gare Saint Lazare. I wish we'd done that.
