Le camping est bien, les sanitaires sont propres, mais les emplacements sont trop pentus, c'est compliqué de mettre la caravane bien à niveau

Mesnay's campsite is tiny and beautiful. It presented us with a minor fly problem and a major water issue.

We reached the site in the course of a longer tour and loved its location, tucked between two vineyards and providing pitches for eight or ten small vehicles under growing trees. Although my French is rudimentary, I also believed I'd established friendly relations with the owners.

The fly problem only became apparent on the first full day of our stay, as the pesky insects began to take over the interior of the van, remaining active well into the hours of darkness. We asked for advice on the problem, eventually finding that the best way of dealing with them was to keep the van shut up and move our camp upslope from it.

This was tolerable since we were out exploring on foot for much of the day, and we continued to enjoy our stay. While our host seemed irritated by my attempts at communication, there was only one overt clash, entirely my fault. (I had misunderstood the French rules about the use of garbage bins. I apologized and did my best to put the matter to rights.)

On the day of departure, I went to fill up the van's water tank, normally our last action before taking to the road and a courtesy I'd expect from any professionally-run campsite. Patrick asked how much water I wanted and, when I replied "50 litres" in halting French, told me that he'd prefer me to take it from the public tap down the road.

When we got to the tap, we found that it was out of order and had clearly been so for some time. Mesnay is a small place and I'm sure Patrick would have been aware of this. No other water source was available to us, so we found ourselves dry for most of the day.

Perhaps local regulations prevent visitors from filling their vehicles? If so, we should have been given notice at the time of our booking. In the absence of any such briefing we were forced to take the incident as a snub, and it spoiled our stay.

Wir nutzten diesen Campingplatz mit unserem Kleinbus für eine Nacht auf der Fahrt Richtung Süden.
Die Stellplätze sind von verschiedener Größe, dabei gibt es schattige, sowie sonnige. Das Gelände wird durch Bäume und Hecken aufgelockert.
Die Mitarbeiter waren sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Außer Französisch wurde auch Englisch gesprochen.
Eine Brotbestellung für den nächsten Morgen ist an der Rezeption möglich und das nebenan liegende Freibad ist im Preis enthalten.
Während unserem Aufenthalt haben wir nur die Sanitäranlage B genutzt, welches ich als zweckmäßig beschreiben möchte. Leider ist es nicht möglich bei den Duschen die Temperatur zu verstellen, mir war es fast schon zu heiß.
Preis-Leistung ist top.
Der Ort ist in circa 10-15 Minuten zu Fuß zu erreichen.
Wir würden diesen Platz nochmals nutzen.

Nous avons passé quelques nuits dans se camping, calme et très propre. Gérante très professionnel pain, viennoiseries sur place. Camping très bon qualité prix !!!
