HOLIDAY INN ^{* * * *}

We booked a queen bed premium with balcony. No wonder there aren’t any photos of the balcony on their website… this photo is the “balcony”. The room looked nothing like the photos either. It seemed generally clean but a pair of dirty boxer shorts in the wardrobe showing how much cleaning must actually go on between stays.

Also be aware that the car park has a height restriction, which our Discovery didn’t fit in. We were on a road trip with lots in the car, tried to explain that we needed a secure car park, do they know anywhere. Got recommended a car park where we literally saw people scouting around cars to break in! Thankfully found another secure one instead.

On the plus side, the views from the rooftop bar are brilliant.

Die Zimmer sind sauber und gepflegt. Es schläft sich sehr gut in dem Bett.

Die Preise sind meiner Meinung nach ein wenig zu hoch.
Das Frühstück ist für ein 4-Sterne Hotel auch verbesserungswürdig.
Das Rührei war kalt und der Speck wird im Topf matschig.
Die Auswahl an Aufschnitt ist ebenso überschaubar.

Une petite odeur dans les sanitaires de la chambre 611. Literie très confortable. Chambre spacieuse et cerise sur le gâteau un accueil exceptionnel de Michelle au petit déjeuner. Une personne pétillante, et souriante ça fait du bien d’être accueilli ainsi. Les lyonnais. Merci à elle ????

We travelled in the car and arrived mid afternoon on the Saturday, unfortunately the car park was full so we went up the road the shopping centre, which was also busy but we managed to find one of the last remaining spaces before it got full. Whilst a bit of a faff to get cases out an navigate an exit out of the shopping centre, it wasn’t hugely inconvenient. Had we not been able to park, then it probably would,be a different story, as it was extremely busy!|We checked in quickly and easily, with the reception staff polite and courteous. We had 2 rooms next to each other and as this was a present we booked the Queen with balcony rooms. The rooms were bright and modern, with vibrant colours and some quirkily lamps. One of our rooms was better than the other and seemed in good repair, the other had sockets hanging from the walls. The balcony wasn’t what I expected, as it was an outside space, probably wide enough for a couple of chairs, but they didn’t have any, which was a shame as it would have been possible, but was nice to have the door open when the sun was out.|The,rooftop bar/lounge on the 7th floor was lovely, especially in the sunshine and had good views over the city, the drinks were really reasonable in terms of price, which was a nice surprise for a hotel. It was disappointing that it wasn’t open on a Sunday, at the very least it would have been good to allow people to use the rooftop bar, even if you couldn’t get drinks, as it was a nice outside space for just sitting and chatting, or reading, but unfortunately it was all locked off.|Breakfast was included with our room, it was okay, most of the food was warm at best, bread and bakery items where regularly handled, not using tongs, by people and the kitchen staff, which we found extremely off putting. Don’t get me wrong, I am not a germ freak and appreciate in the bakery making process people will be touching the bread, but this seemed more excessive than I have witnessed before. To be fair it might be due to the very tight and cost eating area right next to the food and therefore you can’t help,but see it! The restaurant isn’t really that pleasant, it’s fairly crammed, we were a family of 4 and on the second morning 2 large tables for 6 were reserved and we weren’t allowed to sit there, however 2 couples sat on each and we emended up sitting on a big round table for 12, which was okay, just seemed odd. I don’t think breakfast is really worth the money in terms of quality and overall experience, however if you want something quick and easy to,start your day, then it would suffice as there is plenty of choice.|This hotel is in a good location and on our second day, when returning from our travels, we did get a parking space at the hotel, so,at least checking out with our bags was a lot easier.

A little noisy at night time, we found some dirty underpants left in the wardrobe, the TV wouldn't chrome cast. We paid for a premium room with balcony (I wouldn't have described as that if I'm being honest)
The roof top bar was nice but the menu was limited, the staff we're friendly as well, car parking height can be an issue if you have a Landrover or Range rover so please take that into consideration.
